New Course Update

Wanted to drop by and give all of you an update on the new course in Spearfish. Many of you have been out and have played the course and have given us your feedback! It is greatly appreciated. If you have yet to make it to the new course you can click on the following link to see the course's location: -Link-

Ryan and I attended a City Council meeting last night that was indirectly related to the course.

Area Disc Golfers raise $1,000 for Food Bank in the Ice Bowl

48 Area Disc Golfers raise $1,000 for Food Bank in the Ice Bowl

(Rapid City) The 8th Annual Disc Golf Ice Bowl was held Saturday, January 31st, sponsored by Scheels All Sports. 48 warmly-dressed players teed off in 50 mph winds at 11:00 a.m. and competed in the annual fundraiser event. The turnout raised $1,000 to benefit Community Food Banks of South Dakota.

Official Ice Bowls are played at over 225 courses across the United States, Canada and Europe in January and February. Each event is encouraged to find a local charity to support, with an emphasis on fighting hunger. Last year’s events combined to raise over $260,000. Locally, the Rapid City Ice Bowl is hosted by the Black Hills Disc Golf Confederacy, and since 2002 has raised $5,265 for local charities.

The Black Hills Disc Golf Confederacy will be hosting an 2009 Ice Bowl.

Jackson Park Disc Golf Course

Registration: 10:00 AM
Player Meeting: 10:45 AM

Divisions: Advanced, Intermediate, Recreational
Cost: All Divisions - $20 (Students $15)

I know that it has been forever since I have been on the site and it seems to be the common with everyone else as well. But I would like to know is what is up with the sddga site. I can't log in, my email "doesnt appear to be valid." and there is nothing current for tounaments or any events at all. So do we know whats up?

The site is back online, with an old backup from Feb 2009. Unfortunately if you have signed up after that month, your account wasn't salvaged.

Sounds like there were some positive things to be had for CDGC as CDGC members took both Advanced and Intermediate divisions in first place. When we get a news release, or scores... or both We'll post them.

Despite the increasing cost of petroleum, the costs of driving to Rapid City are minimal. Estimations indicate that Rapid City is only a 94 mile round trip drive, assuming a rate of 25 mpg, this puts fuel consumption at 3.76 gallons. At a fuel cost of $1.50 per gallon, that makes this round trip come in at $5.64. Clearly this is an affordable expense, as minimum wage is above this rate.

Alright, as is, I'll not be driving a car of my own. I'll be catching an alternative ride to the course. Anyone who hopes to be going without rides currently should begin talking with other freeloaders to get a car going down.
